Dr. Jackie L Halstead
Highland Church of Christ, Memphis
“Be Still and Know That I Am God.” Saturday, 7:00-8:00 p.m., Youth Mission Room.
The analogy is given of walking in a river. As long as we are moving, the water is muddy. When we stop, the silt settles and the water is clear. Thus, it is with us as we live frantic, hurried lives. When we create space in our life to be with God, the silt settles and we can see much more clearly. Jesus incorporated silence and solitude into his daily life and we follow his example of practicing these disciplines.
“Living from the Center.” Sunday, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Highland Chapel.
Incorporating Sabbath into our lives gives us the opportunity to slow down and listen with the ears of our hearts. We become attuned to the voice of God and experience the freedom of allowing God access to shape us. We live lives centered around Christ and his desire to love this hurting world and become his instruments of love.
