Paul’s well known words in Romans 7 show us that often our best intentions are not enough for us to live a Christ like life. We do things we don’t want to do and we don’t do things that we know we should! The Message version of Romans 7 also says, “something has gone wrong deep within me”…this is the power of the Enneagram, it helps us explore the depths of who we are and why we do what we do.
The Enneagram is a personality typing systems that identifies nine distinct personalities and gives you practical steps to break free from destructive habits of your unique type. When I began to seriously study and use the Enneagram I was astounded by its accuracy of not only my personality but others in my life as well. It has been a tremendous blessing to my marriage, my parenting, and truly all of my relationships. It has brought moments of “Oh, do I really do that?!” but also a great deal of joy and freedom. Unlike other personality systems, it doesn’t put you in a box, in fact it helps you get out of the box you are already in.
As with all the Enneagram types, this course in Enneagram Type One is about liberation from habits and destructive patterns of thinking, feeling, and doing. It allows us to have compassion both for ourselves and for those with whom we interact. As you delve into these classes on Type One, you will have some “ah-ha” moments as the puzzle of who you are begins to take shape. If you, or someone close to you, is a Type One on the Enneagram this class could be extremely beneficial in knowing and extending compassion to yourself and others.
The six-week class offers lessons on the following topics:
|1||Growing in Self-Observation|
|2||Bringing up Productive Thinking|
|3||Using Your Stress Arrow|
|4||Using Your Security Arrow|
|5||Your Relationship with God|
|6||Celebrating Your Unique Gifts|
The heart of the class is the daily assignments. This is where transformation takes place. Each lesson will have a few pages of narrative to lay the groundwork and then you will be given assignments for the week. All seek to offer avenues to drawing us deeper into the heart of God.
